Gender Based Violence Awareness Workshops

Women's Aid Volunteer trains on Gender Based ViolenceVolunteer Bethany Throssle and her husband Gareth, are currently running Gender Based Violence Awareness workshops in Abimbo village. Violence against women is a big problem in rural Kenya, compounded by poverty and lack of education. Bethany works for Women’s Aid in the UK and is hoping to use her skills and experience to help local women to understand their rights and empower themselves. The issues are complex, with many cultural sensitivities, but we are working with both men and women to raise awareness of the problem and offer solutions to individuals and communities.
