Occupational Therapy Keeps Samuel Moving

Rural Kenya, fishermen with HIV and mobility issues

Samuel is a fisherman and father.  He has AIDS and now struggles to walk around. He can’t fish or tend to his vegetable garden and he can’t care for his children or collect clean water and food. Eddy, Challenge Africa’s Kenyan Director, has trained in basic Occupational Therapy techniques and now supports Samuel and other HIV positive villagers who struggle with mobility.  Eddy gives Samuel a massage everyday which relieves his pain and helps him move about so he can provide for his children and look after himself. Samuel says just a short session means the world to him and gives him back his independence.
